The Paraiba tourmaline is one of the most sought-after coloured gemstones in the world. These tourmalines have experienced an extreme increase in value in the last few years, which despite all predictions has still not come to an end. The demand clearly exceeded the supply and therefore the prices have climbed to astronomical heights, as hardly any finds worth mentioning have been made in good gemstone quality. This is true for all finding places. Even today, the legendary Paraiba Tourmalines from the Brazilian state of Paraiba are the most sought-after and most expensive. However, the deposits from Brazil have long been exhausted. In 2001, blue-green tourmalines containing copper and manganese were discovered in Nigeria, and in 2005, Mozambique was added to the list. In the meantime, almost all Paraiba tourmalines available on the market come from Africa, no longer from Brazil. But even the African deposits are proving to be limited. It is this incredible magical glowing neon green and neon blue that makes the Paraiba Tourmaline so special and that no other gemstone shows in this form. 257-5224 Brooch/pin: exceptional goldsmith work with diamonds "Young Leopard", Frascarolo ca. 1960 Approx. 62 x 46mm, approx. 55.5g, 18K gold, safety pin on back, elaborate, plastic and detailed depiction of a young leopard, vintage goldsmith work, chest and tail tip set with diamonds, eyes set with small emeralds, black dots of enamel, enamel on the ears and in the area of the muzzle with abrasion, high quality and formerly expensive goldsmith work, master brand FC(Modele Depose) Frascarolo Italy. Pierino Frascarolo was born in Milan in 1928. He began his career as an apprentice at the company Fratelli Lunati. He then founded his own company with his partner Aldo Lenti. In 1948 he moved his jewelry factory to Corso Matteotti. He is known for his enamel and gold animals that he created in the 1960s. Later, Lenti and Frascarolo parted ways and the latter founded Frascarolo & Co. in New York City with Adriano Gugliada.
