277-4202 Pocket watch: unique piece, Vacheron & Constantin chronometer for Louis Ador Geneve, 7 complications, Geneva 1928 Ca. 57 mm in diameter, ca. 168 g, 18K gold, à-goutte hunting case pocket watch, case number 226249, dome marked CHRONOMÉTRE, 366226, Anker chronometer with 31 jewels, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, moon phase, moon age, original signed enamel dial with double signature Vacheron & Constantin & Louis Ador Geneve, steel hands, excellent condition, in working order. This watch is unique and was made to order for Louis Ador, son of Swiss President Gustave Barthélémy Ador. Presumably ordered by the president as a memento, as he died in 1928. According to Vacheron & Constantin's archive records, the watch was delivered to Louis Ador in 1928! Such complicated Geneva pocket watches in chronometer quality are otherwise only known to have been created by Patek Philippe. Ø 43 mm, 18K rose gold, case of exceptional quality, case gold weight according to certificate 43.2 g, glass back, rotating bezel to activate the minute repeater, precision lever movement of the highest quality, base caliber Golay Fils & Stahl Genève No. 29373, repetition of hours, quarter hours, and minutes, engine-turned silvered dial with solid gold sectors and subdials, retrograde jump hour display, small minute, day/night display, blued steel hands with sun/moon, original leather strap with 18K rose gold buckle, very good condition, comes with all certificates and original case, revision recommended as this watch has hardly been used since 1998. This watch is one of a kind. Svend Andersen made this watch for Mr. Kurt Riedel in 1998 at the customer's request, years before he launched the famous “Grande Jour & Nuit” series in a limited edition of 30 pieces. In addition, this watch is equipped with a minute repeater, which makes it unique. As the base caliber, the maker used a top-quality movement from the Geneva-based company Golay Fils & Stahl, which was already manufacturing some of the best repeater movements for wristwatches in the 1920s. Svend Andersen was born in Denmark in 1942. After elementary school, he completed a four-year watchmaking apprenticeship. With his diploma from the Danish Watchmaking School, which at the time belonged to the Royal Danish Institute of Technology in Copenhagen, he went to Switzerland in 1963 to see how the world's best watches were made. He first worked for Gübelin Lucerne, then moved to Gübelin Geneva in 1965, and subsequently worked for Patek Philippe. Armed with a wealth of experience, Svend Andersen took the plunge into self-employment in 1979 and opened his own watch workshop. In search of like-minded people, he founded the Academie Horlogere des Createurs Independants (AHCI), the Horological Academy of Independent Creatorss, in Geneva in 1985 together with Vincent Calabrese, and served as its chairman for 17 years. Today, Svend Andersen is one of Geneva's most important manufacturers of complicated wristwatches. 35.000 € - 100.000 €

277-4206 Pocket watch: significant A. Lange & Söhne “Fleischhauer” calendar watch, Glashütte, No. 19080, No. 20/20, 1886 Ca. Ø 51 mm, ca. 158 g, 18K gold, case and movement with matching numbers, case hallmarked A. Lange & Söhne, dome signed, with matching number and marked “PATENT,” A. Lange & Söhne precision lever movement, quality 1A, with diamond endstone, early model from 1886/87 without fine adjustment, gold lever, gold escape wheel, perfectly preserved enamel dial, Fleischhauer full calendar, in excellent condition and in working order! The case is a second case by A. Lange & Söhne from the 20th century, which can be concluded from the hallmark. An excerpt from the archives confirms the authenticity of the watch. The calendar movements based on the Fleischauer patent, manufactured by Moritz Grossmann and taken over and sold by A. Lange & Söhne after Grossman's death, are characterized by the following features: 1. Date displays via numeral and letter rings attached outside the dial, which are connected to the gear train by internal gearing. 2. Winding, hand setting, and date setting in typical Grossmann style via a sturdy, symmetrically constructed rocker that can be operated by two pushers located to the right and left of the winding pendant. Otto Fleischhauer had the idea for a calendar watch and submitted vague ideas with sketches to the Berlin Patent Office on 15 July 1883. These sketches did not contain any design ideas about the necessary parts or dimensions. In order to realize the idea of the calendar watch, a completely new design had to be created. Consequently, Fleischhauer asked Moritz Grossmann to realize his ideas and wishes, and Grossmann redesigned the entire watch type. His ideas were then confirmed by drawings of the watch. In 1884, Fleischhauer also had this idea patented in England, but offered the patent for sale just one year later, immediately after Grossmann's death. According to Glashütte museum records, all 20 watches that Grossmann had already manufactured but not yet sold were acquired and sold exclusively by Lange & Söhne. To our knowledge, the last of the Fleischhauer watches known to have been sold was no. 19065 with the Lange signature. This watch was sold by Dr. Crott for € 73,000. 30.000 € - 60.000 €

277-4169 Pocket watch: significant oval gold/enamel watch for the Chinese market, W. Anthony No. 1916, ca. 1800 Ca. 95 x 58 mm, ca. 132 g, 18K gold, oriental pearls on both sides, original blue engine-turned enamel on the back, hallmarked with a W inside the case, faintly visible serial number 1916 and London gold hallmark, extremely rare extra flat oval cylinder movement, off-center enamel dial with rose vines, gold hands, movement intact, in very good condition. Watches by William Anthony are extremely rare on the market and are traded at collector's prices. When looking at private collections and the auction market over the last 50 years, one finds that only 17 other oval watches (6 of them with telescopic hands) and 15 round watches have appeared. The IWC ref. 431 is one of the most sought-after pilot's watches from World War II. Hardly any of these watches that still surface today are in such excellent original condition! Patek Philippe produced the St. George relief watches mainly in silver and only a few pieces in gold, most of which were in ladies' sizes.
