282-4196 Pendant watch: important, unique pair of gold/enamel pendant watches, Blois 1640/1650 1. Ca. Ø33mm, ca. 34g, gold, high carat, probably 20K, case completely enamelled, top and bottom with elaborate, highly detailed mythological scenes, the back of the bowl shows "THE JUDGEMENT OF PARIS" and the lid shows the "ALLEGORY OF JUSTICE". The rim of the case shows four cartouches with landscape scenes. In attribution to the work of Michel Dorigny, and the images are probably by Simon Vouet (1590-1649). The black rim is only known from three cases from Blois, very fine, early verge movement with vase pillars, 2-arm balance wheel without hairspring, plate signed Laurier Blois, enamel dial, gold hands, excellent condition, minimal cracking around the rim. Francois Laurier was recorded in Blois around 1650 and died in 1663. Blois enamel watches from around 1650 with movements from this period are museum pieces. Many of these cases, which were already valued as works of art at the time, have movements from the 18th century. Ø33mm, ca. 34g, gold, high carat, probably 20K, case completely enamelled, top and bottom with elaborate, highly detailed mythological scenes, the inside of the bowl shows an idealised landscape with a farmhouse and a fisherman in the river, the inside of the lid shows a river landscape with trees and a village in the foothills. The back of the case shows "Ceres, Bacchus and Venus at the grape harvest, observed by the lynx" and the lid shows the scene "Ceres, Bacchus and Venus celebrating wildly". The rim of the case shows four cartouches with landscape scenes. In attribution to the work of Michel Dorigny, and the images are probably by Simon Vouet (1590-1649), early verge movement with vase pillars, 2-armed balance wheel without hairspring, plate signed Francois Berger Paris, enamel dial, iron hands, excellent condition. NOTE: To our knowledge, this is the only known pair of Blois enamel watches. What is also special is that both watches still have their original movements from the period, and the third aspect of their rarity is the size of the watches, which differs significantly from the usual size of known enamel watches from Blois! 50.000 € - 300.000 €

282-4194 Pocket watch: significant gold/enamel duplex watch for the Chinese market, Bovet No. 677, ca. 1840 Ca. Ø57mm, ca. 134g, 18K gold, set with oriental pearls on both sides, very fine enamel painting "Doves and Flowers" on the back, No. 677, glazed movement, signed duplex movement, fantastically preserved, signed enamel dial, center seconds, original steel hands, very nice condition, in working order. Most of the outstanding painting is still in its original condition; the edge of the painting was partially chipped and has been extensively and professionally restored. The watch belongs to Bovet's "Pair of Doves" series and is one of the most beautiful surviving enamel watches by Bovet. 282-4185 Pocket watch: extremely rare, large gold/enamel watch with automaton "The Harvest", Bouvier Frères, circa 1790 Ca. Ø55mm, ca. 96g, 18K gold, glazed on both sides, back with very fine enamel painting and window for the automaton underneath, depicting various golden figures and animals "wandering" past a castle after the harvest, which is why these automatons are also known as "Wandering Automata", verge escapement, signed, off-centre enamel dial with rare regulating scale on the dial, very good condition, in working order. According to our research, only about 10 of these automatons appeared in auctions until doday. Four of them are now in the collection of the Patek Philippe Museum. 282-4188 Important enamel Watch from around 1800, "Odysseus brings back Chriseis", top quality, attributed to Jean-Louis Richter Ca. Ø56 mm, ca. 91 g, 18K gold, set with oriental pearls on both sides, on the reverse side an enamel miniature painting of the very best Geneva quality, "Chryseis is returned to her father", based on the work by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727–1785) and the engraving (1786) by Francesco Bartolozzi (1728–1815), the painting enamel on gold, attributed to Jean-Louis Richter (1766–1841), special and very rare, super flat calibre, probably a Gregson calibre, verge escapement, perfectly preserved enamel dial, original gold hands, in working order and very well preserved, only a small, barely visible restoration of the golden paillons rim. Provenance: Chavette Paris 1983, with an estimated price of €18,000-22,000 at the time. There is another enamel watch with an almost identical Richter painting on the same theme, the Ilbery 7186 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/OmB). Richter, Jean-Louis (1766–1841) He learned his craft in Geneva under David-Etienne Roux and Philippe-Samuel-Théodore Roux and became one of the most famous enamel painters. His speciality was painting landscapes, especially seascapes and maritime scenes, in which he often depicted ships in harbour or naval battles, but occasionally also portraits and hunting scenes. He did not often sign his works, but they are clearly recognisable as his signature style due to their style and quality. He mainly applied his art to watch cases and snuff boxes, most of which were intended for the Chinese, Turkish, British and Italian markets. In 1828, he entered into a partnership with Aimé-Julien Troll (1781–1852), and works signed "Richter et Troll" can be found. Like other great enamel painters of his time, Richter often drew inspiration for his work from paintings or engravings by popular artists of the day, particularly Claude Verne and the romanticised English and Irish countryside. 8.000 € - 20.000 €
