Pocket Watch/chatelaine: English gold/enamel museum-li- ke verge watch with matching gold/enamel „Royal Blue“ chatelaine, John Cowell, Royal Exchange London, No. 8059, listed from 1724-1775
Ca. Ø45mm, ca. 85g, at least 18K gold, fantastic case quality, dark blue and white enamel, case maker‘s mark IT, signed and numbered verge movement, very fine quality, diamond endstone, magnificently decorated enamel dial, golden snake hands, in very good condition, intact, matching original chatelaine, similar dark blue and white enamelled, 4 pendants in total: 1. Gold signet pendant with carnelian intaglio , 2. Blue enamelled signet pendant with lapis lazuli and Oriental pearl setting, 3. Very rare gold key in the shape of a pavilion, 4. Gold poison compartment in the shape of a nut. The chatelaine is exceptionally crafted. The front is gold enamel of finest quality, but the back is solidly worked in metal and gilt.
