Charles-Ami Barbezat-Baillot was born on 6 March 1847 as the son of Charles Henri Barbezat (1809-1889) in Bayards (Neuchâtel). Barbezat-Baillot was an ingenious watchmaker and inventor and registered a large number of patents. Swiss patent 334 was one of Barbezat-Baillot's most important inventions and involved the use of centrifugal force in the repeating mechanism. On 4 March 1879, US patent no. 212,882 (patent for a calendar watch) was granted. 1880 Gold medal in Groningen. July 1881 also a gold medal in La Chaux-de-Fonds at the National Watch Exhibition for various pocket watches with calendars. At the Colonial and Export Exhibition in Amsterdam ("Internationale Koloniale en Untvoerhandel Tentoonstellung" 01.05. - 01.11.1883), one of two Large Diplomas of Honour for Swiss exhibitors was awarded - the second was given to Patek Philippe & Co. At the exhibition in Paris in 1889, Charles Barbezat-Baillot was awarded a gold medal for the high quality of his movements. In 1896, he received another gold medal at the National Exhibition in Geneva.
