292-4125 Pocket watch: significant chronometer, Barraud’s Earnshaw series, London c. 1803
Ca. 56 mm, ca. 159 g, later London silver case, extremely rare chronometer movement with Earnshaw’s sugar-tongs temperature compensation, spring detent escapement, signed Barraud 31/5815, original, signed and matching-numbered enamel dial, gold hands, in working order. This watch is one of only six known Barraud chronometers that can be said with a high degree of certainty to have been made by Earnshaw – the so-called Earnshaw series from 1803!
