292-4214  Rare French ink chronograph with box, 19th century.

Ca. Ø63mm, chrome-plated case, cylinder escapement, enamel dial with 30-minute counter, movement intact. The first ink chronograph was invented in 1821 by the French watchmaker Nicolas-Mathieu Rieussec to measure the exact finishing times of horses at races on the Champ de Mars in Paris.
