Pocket watch: interesting Glashütte collector's piece, A.Lange & Söhne quality "DUF", 1st generation 1878-1880, no.20214 with probably original box!
Ca. Ø 50 mm, ca. 101 g, 14 K pink gold, rare half hunting case edition with black enameled numerals, case and movement with matching numbers 20214, Lange & Söhne precision lever movement, 1st series quality DUF still without integrated escape wheel cock and without fine adjusting device, main plate with first type of DUF signature, gold escape wheel, winding wheels with rare triple Glashütte sunburst decoration in manner of Moritz Grossmann, early and unsigned enamel dial (hairline), original blued steel hands, in very beautiful condition, movement needs cleaning, very rare collector's piece, from the first years 1878-1880, very rare offered, with probably original seller's box by Verhagen & Cie Cologne, with extract from the archive. The number 20214 is the 214th DUF pocket watch every made! A comparable watch with the number 20322 and also sold by Verhagen & Cie was noted in the Glashütte archive as following (translation): "Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation Glashütte" (DUF) to the company Dürrstein & Co. Dresden. This watch was signed "Fa. J. Verhagen & Co Cöln" already by A.Lange & Söhne on customers demand. Next to the case shape "Jürgens" with 750 thousanths fine, it is very interesting that this is a very rare edition equipped with caliber 43 (19 lines) with triple Glashütte sunburst decoration in manner of Moritz Grossmann on the winding wheels."
