Ø34mm, 18K gold, pressed back, manual winding, calibre P 454/5B, lever movement with 17 jewels, fine adjusting device, case number 320418, movement number 489725, centre seconds, special dial with enamel painting, representation of the symbol of the Mussolini party of Italy P.N.F, which was forbidden in 1953, original hands, leather strap with gold buckle, Vacheron service box, very good condition. According to the owner, sold through Hausmann in Rome. Only a few Vacheron Constantin men's watches with these rare cloisonné enamel dials are known. They date from the 1940s and 1950s and are special models commissioned by various customers. For example, there are models for the American market with the map of the USA. This watch was probably made for Hausmann in Italy. The dials were specially commissioned, e.g. from the Stern company, and are probably not made by V & C and therefore usually not signed. The extract from the archives confirms the originality of the watch. We know of at least 1 other example with this dial, also delivered to Italy, auctioned in our 78th auction for ca. 19,000€. Ca. 13.5 × 13.5 × 13.5cm, original 3-part mahogany case with glazing, original gimbal suspension, brass case numbered 229564, extremely rare detent chronometer movement calibre RA30, signed and numbered 370698, helical hairspring, original silvered 65mm dial with 52h power reserve indicator, blued steel hands, very beautiful condition, in working order. A copy of the extract from the archives is included. The extract from the archives confirms both numbers 229564/370698 and originality. The chronometer was sold in 1915. Antiquorum in Geneva sold one other of these extremely small chronometers, number 388127 for 87,400 Swiss Francs. According to research by Antiquorum in 1992, Vacheron & Constantin confirmed that only 3 of these extremely small chronometers were made.
