Pocket watch: rarity, very early Breguet Souscription circa 1803, with archive information
Ca. Ø62mm, approx. 130g, typical Breguet case with coined band, silver with gold band, the case number 14164, master's mark RL, early Breguet souscription movement with parachute and temperature compensation, Breguet cylinder escapement, signed and numbered 1078, screwed enamel dial, also signed, Breguet steel hands, in excellent condition, in working order. Provenance: Chayette Paris, 18 November 1983, lot 147 sold for FF 17,000. The watch was probably modernised by Breguet Et Fils in the 19th century, as was the case with many early Breguet watches. According to the Breguet archives, the watch was given a silver Breguet second case; originally it was a gold case. This is a particularly beautiful and early example of a Breguet Souscription from the early years. Only around 700 of these watches were made by Breguet from 1796 onwards!
