287-4160 Pocket watch: unique duplex watch for the Chinese market, signed Blbery, London 1831
Ca. Ø60mm, ca. 170g, gilt, blue enamel on the reverse, both rims, pendant and back cover (extremely rare) decorated with half-pearls and garnet stones, hallmarks London 1831, duplex movement with diamond endstone, signed Blbery London, well-preserved enamel dial, gold hands, center seconds, movement intact. Unfortunately, the enamel has been cleaned with something that has made the surface matt; extremely rare case decoration with pearls and garnets. It is quite possible that this is an Ilbery with a deliberately altered signature, even though it is known that Ilbery produced very few gilt watches.
