287-4236 Pocket watch: rare naval deck chronometer from WWI, A. Johannsen London No. 7747, HM 1915
Original mahogany box, ca. 11 × 9 cm, bone plate with signature and British military markings, screw-down brass case, silver case with London 1915 hallmarks (bow missing), case and movement bear the same number, 7747, Anker chronometer with diamond endstone, signed, signed, matching-numbered enamel dial (craquelling), steel hands, central seconds hand in pink gold, movement intact. Asmus Johannsen, a native of Denmark, was a chronometer maker for the Royal Navy and enjoyed an excellent reputation. He regularly took part in the chronometer competitions at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, sometimes winning first place.
