Time indication by red Roman numerals, high quality pink gold hands, original box, in very good working condition, rarity for collectors of exceptional chronographs.

A comparable chronometer by Koehn with the number 84522 was offered in Geneva in 1993 and sold for 6,900 Swiss Francs. Eduard Koehn (1839-1908) succeeded with Patek Philippe from simple watchmaker to director. He was born in Germany and studied at the watchmaking school in Geneva. Afterwards he started as a simple watchmaker with Patek Philippe and became later a partner. In 1891 Eduard Koehn bought the company H.R. Ekegren. The quality awareness he acquired during his years at Patek Philippe was reflected later in the watches he designed and manufactured himself. He delivered many of his extremely fine pocket watches to the USA, including to Tiffany in New York (source: Dr. Crott 93./ 98. auction).

The number of diamonds on these watches is usually always between 10 and 20. The version with original brooch is extremely rare. We know of only a few of these watches that are preserved in this quality and original condition. Wolf, Hannover, Patek Philippe precision lever movement with wolf's toothing, repeating the hours, quarters and half-quarters, signed enamel dial with red minutes and red seconds, blued Breguet steel hands, dent at the rim of the back lid, in working order, rare. The identical movement and case number indicate that Patek Philippe delivered the movement and the dial of this watch to the German chronometer maker Louis Eschholz/ E.F. Wolf in Hannover, where the watch was completed, probably exactly as Patek Philippe delivered Tiffany in New York. Louis Eschholz was born in Hannover in 1841 and succeeded E.F. Wolf in Hannover. He was a member of the board of the Hannoverian Watchmakers' Guild and handed in the chronometer N°863 for testing in 1903. Louis Eschholz died on the 8th September 1905 in Hannover.

Ø61mm, ca. 200g, silver pair case, both cases pierced, outer case with various mythical creatures, grotesque face and castle view, inner case also decorated with mythical creatures and a grotesque face, additionally various animals, very finely worked, bell, early verge movement with early hairspring and decorated barrel, magnificent fire-gilt balance bridge, signed plate, silver dial, central brass alarm disc, single-handed, iron hands, movement starts ticking but needs cleaning. The alarm is also intact, but needs service/ adjustment. Only very rarely watches from Jean Rousseau appear on the market. An oignon with self-strike from 1660 was offered in Geneva in 1999. This watch here was probably made at the end of the 17th century. Jean II Rousseau (1606-1684) came from a reputable Geneva watchmaking dynasty. Rousseau had 12 children, five of them learned the watchmaking craft. His great-grandson was the famous philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778). Rousseau made a number of important watches, including those in the form of a cross, a skull (Memento Mori) and astronomical watches. Today, many of Jean Rousseau's watches are in important museums, such as the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Ø58mm, ca. 175g, 18K gold, à-goutte, engine turned, spring lid with enamelled monogram EG, dome very elaborately engraved, completely signed and numbered with the year 1877, inscribed "CHRONOMETRE", listing the complications with perpetual calendar, minute repeater and moon phase, very fine Ankerchronometer movement with wolf's toothing and golden wheels, case and movement numbered 2450, underneath the dial additionally punched 1/44, splendid champlevé dial with floral decorations, perpetual calendar, moon phase and extremely rare retrograde date, pink gold hands, optically in very beautiful condition with probably original box, technical condition overhaul/ repair necessary, movement intact, repeater in working order, adjustment recommended, calendar movement requires restoration and is not complete, day of the week changes, moon phase as well, retrograde date and month do not work anymore. To our knowledge, this is only the 2nd of these highly complicated watches by Laurent Gostkowski to be offered at auction. Laurent Gostkowski was born around 1850 in Nice, France. He was the son of Patek Philippes partner Wincenty Gostkowski and Marie-Antoinette de Rabaudy. Father Wincenty (Vincent) Gostkowski (29 March 1807-29 August 1884) was born in Grzymki, Poland and emigrated to Geneva in the 1830s. He was a lawyer and an early financier and co-owner of the company Patek & Cie. previously known as Patek, Czapek & Cie. On May 15, 1845, the company was renamed Patek & Cie. after Jean-Adrien Philippe and Vincent Gostkowski joined the company. On 30 June 1847, at the age of 40, he married the French woman Marie-Antoinette de Rabaudy von Brest. For this marriage Antoine Norbert de Patek and Jean Adrien Philippe were two of the three witnesses. On 1 January 1851 the name was changed from Patek & Cie. to Patek Philippe & Co. On January 21, 1876, Vincent Gostkowski retired from the Patek Philippe company and founded the Laurent Gostkowski family business with his son Laurent in Geneva and later in Paris. Among their suppliers was another former employee of Patek, Czapek & Cie, Henri Majewski from Lwów in Poland. The company won a silver medal for watchmaking at the 1878 World Exhibition in Paris, and shortly afterwards Gostkowski opened a new 'studio' near the Quai des Bergues in Geneva. One of Gostkowski's employees was Emmanuel Cottier (1858-1930) father of Louis Cottier (1894-1966), a genius who, among other technical innovations, invented the Patek Philippe world time mechanism in 1931 (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/OA9). Only a few watches by Gostkowski and Majewski, the former employees/ partners of Patek Philippe, are known so far. All of them, however, stand for the very highest Geneva quality and with unmistakable similarity to the early, highly complicated Patek Philippe watches of the 1870s/1880s. Pendant watch/ brooch watch: exquisite and extremely rare Boule de Geneve with brooch, Fabergé St.Petersburg/ Henry Capt Geneve, ca. 1900
Ca. 60mm long, diameter of the watch ca. 18mm, gold, silver and enamel, brooch and case with original diamond setting, loop of the watch and hook of the brooch punched with the Russian gold hallmark 56, as well as KF for Karl Fabergé and AH (with star) for August Frederik Hollming (1854-1915), master craftsman at Fabergé since 1880, case with engraved inventory number 43005, case of extremely rare design and glazed on both sides, winding and time setting by rotating the bezel, rare and extremely fine miniature lever movement with very unusual movement construction, the same calibre as in Patek Philippe spherical watches, illustrated in Martin Huber & Alan Banberry "Patek Philippe" page 75, plate signed L.Gallopin & C/Henry Capt Geneve, matching number with the case, enamel dial in perfect condition, blued steel hands, brooch with representation of a sea snake, symbolic for St. Petersburg, richly set with rose cut diamonds, eye set with a small ruby, enamel of the brooch with little imperfections, overall in very good condition and in working order, rarity. There is no doubt that brooch and watch belong together. A comparable watch with signed Fabergé box was auctioned at Christie's in 2001. However, this watch was much simpler made and did not have this extremely rare movement. The realized price was ca. 20,000 US$ in 2001. This watch comes with an expert's certificate.
