This extremely rare Glashütte gold hunting case watch in chronometer-quality is in complete original condition with original box and papers. The watch is unrefurbished, in working order and comes from the original owner. Pocket watches made by B.Junge & Söhne Glashütte in this original condition are museum collectors' pieces and much rarer than comparable watches from A. Lange & Söhne. The original box still contains a originally packed spare glass, also numbered 1258. It is assumed that the company only produced ca. 300 high-quality Glashütte precision pocket watches between 1891 and 1900. Lange & Söhne Glashütte 1A quality, No. 64867, delivered to the Imperial and Royal Hydrographic Institute in Pola in 1914 Ca. Ø63mm, ca. 188g, engine turned silver case with gold hinges, case and movement with matching numbers 64867, extremely rare chronometer movement with diamond endstone and pivoted detent escapement in manner of Moritz Grossmann, helical hairspring, screwed gold chatons, finest engraved balance cock, original, numbered, silvered and grained dial, original hands, in working order, in very beautiful condition and in our opinion in completely original condition. The watch comes with an extract from the archives. These extremely rare Glashütte chronometers were manufactured for maritime purposes. The watches were constructed with 14400 half-oscillations in one hour, so that the seconds hand is able to make half seconds jumps. All have a pivoted detent escapement, which was built in two versions: as a chronometer escapement in manner of Berthoud and as a chronometer escapement in manner of Julius Grossmann with an additional safety lever to prevent the escape wheel from running through after removing the balance wheel. According to the Lange & Söhne archives this watch was part of a delivery of 20 half-seconds deck chronometers No. 64861-64880 to the Imperial and Royal Hydrographic Institute in Pola. The chronometer is in the very much by collectors wanted condition with national emblem and navy deployment number, which is a significant difference in the value. Only 113 of these chronometers were delivered by A. Lange & Söhne to the German navy. Very few of them still exist today and are historically important collector's pieces!
