Sold 287-4150 Pocket watch: technically very rare Tiffany, rattrapante & 5-minute repeater, circa 1900 Ca. Ø46mm, ca. 107g, 18K gold à-goutte, case and movement matching number 19316, case, movement and dial signed, extremely rare calibre with Geneva stripes, enamel dial in immaculate condition, Breguet hands, movement intact, requires cleaning and adjustment. The combination of a split-seconds chronograph with a 5-minute repeater is extremely rare, even rarer than in combination with a minute repeater (https://www.cortrie.de/go/MYV). Hammerprice: 6.500 €

Sold 287-4153 Pocket watch: flat Geneva precision watch with 5-minute repeater, Eduard Koehn, Geneva, c. 1895, with original box Ca. Ø47.5mm, ca. 70g, 18K gold à-goutte, case and movement matching number 78723, dome signed, super-flat and very fine Geneva calibre with the rare 5-minute repeater, signed enamel dial, steel hands, in working order, good original condition with signed original box. Eduard Koehn was born in Germany in 1839, the son of Karl Koehn, purveyor to the court of the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. He studied at the watchmaking school in Geneva from 1859. He then began working as a simple watchmaker at Patek Philippe in 1861 and was appointed director after 15 years. In 1891, Edouard Koehn acquired the firm H.R. Ekegren. The commitment to quality he had acquired during his many years at Patek Philippe was later reflected in the products he designed and manufactured himself. In 1892, he improved the retrograde display invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet, Swiss Patent No. 4746. Koehn became particularly well known for his very flat watches.
