Sold 177-4194 Wristwatch: Rolex rarity, very early chronograph Daytona "Paul Newman" Ref. 6241 with protective film after Rolex service/ guarantee confirmation in Geneva 2018, from original owner in Hamburg, Geneva ca. 1967/68 Ca. Ø37mm, stainless steel, reference 6241, serial number 17673..., manual winding, silver-coloured dial with black totalizers, luminous hands, Rolex stainless steel bracelet with felt clasp, in very good and well-kept condition, in working order. The originality of the watch is confirmed by the service certificate 4210027039CH, carried out in Geneva 2018. The invoice for the service about 20,200€ and the service report are available. The watch has not been worn since the service and is still in its protective foil as it left Geneva. Sold 240-4239 Wristwatch: probably a "Pièce Unique", Cartier Montre à Secret "Nœuds d'amour", platinum, extract, 1956 Ca. 18.5cm long, approx. 75g, platinum, French platinum punch (dog's head) and J.C., face of the bracelet is completely set with brilliant-cut diamonds and baguette diamonds, finest quality, according to the extract from the archives 41.4ct, the large centre stone in the centre of the hinged lid, 1.4ct, lateral a concealed, secret opening button for the central jumping lid, underneath the concealed dial, probably also made of platinum and engine-turned, the case of the watch can be folded out downwards and has a so-called backwinder crown, hand-winding movement signed LeCoultre and serial number 1190048. The watch is technically as well as optically in excellent condition and little used. It is still in its original Cartier case. The extract from the archives confirms the originality and delivery of the wristwatch with LeCoultre movement 1190048 to Cartier in 1956. The extract from the archives also confirms the matching diamond setting on the case. It is highly probable that this watch is a unique piece, an order from Cartier for a special customer. There are very few comparable watches known with such a precious stone setting. The current replacement value at Cartier is probably well over €1,000,000. This does not take into account the historical value of this watch. Sold 177-4192 Wristwatch: one of the rarest Patek Philippe watches from the Art Deco period, "Piece Unique", the only watch of the Ref.1930, which was manufactured with original box with changeable dial, with extract from the archives and Patek Philippe service papers Ca. 24 × 35mm, unique 18K yellow gold and white gold Art Deco case, special lugs, hinged back, serial number 619396, reference number 1930, manual winding, movement number 822470, silvered dial with black enamelled indexes, subsidiary seconds, back also punched with reference number 1930, blued steel hands, old leather strap with 18K buckle, signed Gay Freres, in very beautiful condition, in working order. The watch comes with an exceptional original Patek Philippe box, oval and brown leather with gold rim, inside silk. Under the velvet inlay is a secret compartment with a 2nd signed and in paper wrapped "replacement" or "change dial". The watch is a unique timepiece with various accompanying documents, including extract from the archives and service papers about a general overhaul at Patek Philippe in Geneva for 14,300 Swiss Francs in 2004; a Patek Philippe watch which only exists once in this version and which actually belongs into the museum in Geneva! The watch first appeared in Geneva in 1995 and was already valued between 100,000 and 120,000 Swiss Francs. At that time, however, the changeable dial in the secret compartment of the box was not yet discovered and the watch was still in technically poor condition, like it was found! The extract from the archives confirms the authenticity of the entire watch and the very special and rare dial! The watch has a unique history that is documented in a letter from the Patek Philipp Museum to the owner of the watch. Here are the facts: in September 1929 a Patek Philippe customer delivered a white gold case in a special design to Patek Philippe to manufacture a wristwatch according to his ideas. The sketches for the design are supposed to come from Fred Dubois, the well-known Patek Philippe illustrator. Patek Philippe took over the case, punched it with serial number and reference and equipped it with the movement 822470 and the current dial, which is recorded in the register, and delivered it to the customer. This whole process took 3 years! Patek Philippe explained it with the special circumstances of the world economic crisis. In 1938 Patek bought the watch back because the customer chose another watch. In 1939 the watch was sold again. This is also documented in the extract from the archives. Patek Philippe assumes that the second dial was added as part of this sale, according to the changed taste of the time! The unique Art Deco case was reworked by Patek Philippe according to archive information. It was originally made of white gold when it was designed by Dubois in 1929 and was changed by Patek Philippe into a bicolour case. Whether this alteration was the reason for the long time from 1929 to 1932, or whether the reworking took place after the repurchase in 1938, is not clearly documented. Hammerprice: 154.750,00 €

Sold 171-4232 Wristwatch: Patek Philippe rarity, almost like new, possibly unique Nautilus Jumbo, reference 3700/15 in full gold version with original diamond set case, diamond set bracelet and diamond set dial, Geneva 1982, with extract. Ca. Ø42mm, ca. 164g, 18K gold, case, bracelet and dial set with original diamonds, in total 519 white diamonds, reference 3700/15, case number 559208, automatic movement calibre 28-255 C, movement number 1310586, original diamond set dial with date aperture, original hands, in working order. The watch comes in a black and red Nautilus box and an extract from the archives. The watch is from the original owner, who assured to us that this watch was purchased as an investment in 1983 and has been worn only 3 times for very special occasions. Therefore the watch is in an almost new, unworked condition. However, a technical service is strongly recommended. According to our research no further piece of a 3700/15 has ever been offered at auction. Possibly, it is one of the few special models of the 3700, like the only known piece in platinum. All other golden Nautilus set with diamonds which have appeared on the market so far, were according to our research, watches of reference 3700/3 where only the bezel was originally set with diamonds by Patek Philippe. The Nautilus 3700 is a legend. It was made from 1976 to 1990 and is today one of the most popular collector's watches. Sold 171-4228 Wristwatch: important, technically highly complicated and very early platinum watch with triple date, moon phase and minute repeater, ca.1925 Ca. 34 x 34mm, platinum case, multiple punched with the French platinum hallmark (dog's head) from 1912, very fine precision lever movement with minute repeater, additionally triple date with moon phase, movement numbered under the dial 11991 and 3594, dial with Arabic numerals, hand with date, aperture for the French calendar with day and month, moon phase, moon age, including all complications in very beautiful working condition, in our opinion completely original. Old leather strap. This watch is an absolute rarity. There are hardly any wristwatches from this time with minute repeater and calendar known. The known watches are mainly attributed to Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Another wristwatch that appeared years ago and which is very similar to this unsigned watch is the wristwatch with the American seller's signature James Schulz, auctioned in Geneva in 2006 and described as the most complicated known wristwatch from the time 1920-1930 (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/9lD).
