Kröger became a very successful writer and described his experiences during the war. Ø52mm, enamel, signed Paul Meroz, red inscription ‘La Minuterie en Letters Microscopiques L'Oraison Dominicale’, extremely rare. Only a very few dials are known with this type of microscopic writing, which is so small that the words cannot be seen with the naked eye, but simply appear as lines for the minutes. The words can only be seen on close examination under magnification. This dial required incredible skill and patience to produce. It was probably made for exhibition purposes, as it is not drilled. Little is known about Paul Méroz, although he probably came from the Méroz family of watchmakers in Geneva, which included at least six watchmakers with this name. Another watch (formerly in the Time Museum) with a miniaturised Lord's Prayer inscription (probably also by Méroz) was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, on 15 May 2005, lot 170 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/2YZ). 2.000 € - 10.000 €
