Pocket watch: very early, historically important Geneva repeater, museum quality, from the founding phase of the company Patek Philippe, signed Czapek i Spolka No.1524, ca. 1846
Ca. Ø48mm, ca. 72g, 18K gold, relief case in exceptional quality, à-goutte-case, maker's mark EP (Etienne Piguet), extremely detailed depiction of a historical military scene with horsemen, surrounded by a very splendid engraving, reeded mid-section, dome signed, numbered and inscribed "Ikazowki", probably the buyer of the watch, signed, very fine caliber with moustache lever, repeating the hours and quarters, screwed enamel dial, fine Breguet steel hands, dial with small imperfections, otherwise excellent condition, in working order, absolute rarity. The watch is a museum piece from the early days of the Patek Philippe company and was probably made in the first year after the separation of Patek and Czapek. At that time, the watches were made for wealthy Polish customers and were signed with Patek i Spolka and Czapek i Spolka. Only very few of this extremely rare watches are known with both signatures. Most of the cases were made by Etienne Piguet and the movements had identical calibers. Even the early crown winding of Adrien Philippe was adapted by Czapek. According to our research, the number 1524 is one of the earliest known Czapek pocket watch repeaters with this high-quality relief case. The only comparable repeater with this type of case we know is no. 545 from 1842 (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/GXv).

According to our research no other Patek Philippe pocket watch in this version is known yet. Another similar watch is shown in Huber & Banbery "Patek Philippe" p.230/231. This watch has the number 47643, probably from the same year and is dated 1874/75. Very interesting is also the next page 232, which shows another highly complicated watch with the number 47887, also from the same year. This watch also has a completely separate calendar module, which is identical in many details to the movement described here!
