152-4145 Pocket watch: very rare English Arnold type chronometer, from one of the most important English watchmaker, William Anthony no. 4355, London 1809

Ø55 mm, ca. 153 g, 18 K pink gold, casemaker's punch William Webb, hallmarks London 1809, extravagant dome with visible balance, spring detent escapement in manner of John Arnold, cylindrical hairspring, screwed gold chatons, signed and numbered, enamel dial in perfect condition, pink gold hands, in excellent condition, very interesting pocket watch chronometer, prime quality, in working order. William Anthony (1765-1844) had his workshop at Red Lion Street, St. John's Square, Clerkenwell. He was mainly specialized in making watches for the Chinese market. Similar to Barraud, he produced chronometers and the famous enamel watches. Pocket watch chronometers made by him are extremely rare.
