292-4082 Pocket knife: museum-quality case in gold and enamel, probably Paris, circa 1777/1778
Ca. 65 mm long, 18-carat gold, multicoloured and exquisitely enamelled, fitted with 3 different tools: miniature scissors, a pocket knife and a toothpick; tools made of stainless steel; in excellent, completely original condition; an extremely rare museum-quality collector’s item. An almost identical enamelled object, certainly from the same maker, is held in an art museum in Paris (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/PmO), dated to 1777/1778. A comparable item fetched €8,700 at a French auction (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/7Br).
