292-4141 Pocket watch: interesting early verge watch, circa 1735, PONCET à Pezenas
Ca. 57 mm in diameter, ca. 139 g, silver case with relief decoration, early verge movement with a tall, steep fusee, signed silver dial, iron hands, movement intact, cleaning recommended. The signature is a mystery. Is this an early watch by the famous Jean François Poncet, from before his time in Dresden? From 1739, he was court watchmaker to Augustus III, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, and later also Saxon Electoral Chamberlain and Inspector of the Green Vault in Dresden.
