292-4122  Pocket watch: technically interesting timepiece for the Chinese market, virgule escapement/center seconds/diablotine, c. 1780

Ca. Ø57mm, ca. 95g, silver case, signature PM 21669, interesting full plate movement with virgule escapement, very well-preserved enamel dial with jumping center seconds (half-second jumps) and flashing quarter-second, gold hands, movement intact, rare. The complication of a flashing quarter-second is extremely rare in such an early watch, particularly in combination with the already rare virgule escapement. The invention of the flashing second is attributed to Jaquet-Droz in 1777. This watch is likely to have been made shortly afterwards and is of great interest to collectors!
