292-4144 Pocket watch: early English pocket watch with date, Antram London, circa 1700
Ca. Ø59mm, ca. 155g, magnificently crafted silver case, double case, inner case smooth, case and movement bear the same number 284, master's mark LD, magnificent early verge movement with rare tulip-shaped pillars and diamond endstone, signed Joseph Antram London, original Silver dial also signed, date window, iron hands, movement intact. Joseph Antram worked as a respected watchmaker in London from 1700 to 1723. From around 1696, he served an apprenticeship as a watchmaker with Charles Gretton and was admitted to the Clockmakers’ Company in 1706. At the same time, he became a member and watchmaker to King George I.
