Patry, enamel dial, gold hands, small seconds, in working order. The Debaufre escapement is a rare, historical watch escapement with deadbeat friction, invented in London in 1704 by the French watchmaker Pierre (Peter) Debaufre. It is regarded as one of the earliest modifications designed to apply the deadbeat principle to pocket watches. Due to its visual operation and regional prevalence, it is also known in the English-speaking world as the ‘Chaffcutter’, ‘Ormskirk’ or ‘Club-footed verge’. Two identical, mirror-image escape wheels are mounted offset on the same shaft. The teeth of the two wheels alternately engage with the pallet. Whilst one tooth rests on the flat underside (rest phase), the next tooth slides over the sloping surface of the pallet as it oscillates, imparting a driving impulse to the balance wheel. Sold 292-4150 Wristwatch: sought-after Lemania Tg 195 military chronograph, Swedish military, 1950s Approx. Ø40mm, steel, screw-down case back with Swedish military markings, serial number 57/1813 (57 presumably the year of manufacture), hand-wound LWO 2225 movement, original black dial, original hands (luminous material on the hands only partially intact), measurable radioactivity, in working order and in very good condition. The so-called TG 195 is arguably one of the rarest military watches produced by Lemania. Not much is known about this watch. It was manufactured in the 1950s for the Swedish Air Force. What makes it special is a rather unusual zero-reset mechanism for precise time-setting. During normal operation, the central seconds hand runs continuously. If you press the upper pusher at 2 o’clock, the seconds hand automatically resets to zero and the crown pops out. However, as intended, the entire movement also stops (!) The watch only starts running again once you push the crown back in. This allows for precise time setting. Hammerprice: 4.500 €
