292-4317 Drum clock: one of the earliest known carriage clocks with original alarm attachment, Peter Pech, Munich, c. 1540
Ca. 60 mm in diameter, gilted brass, magnificently engraved, top with recess for securing the alarm attachment, push-buttons, single-hand, movement entirely made of iron, alarm movement also made of iron, bell, balance bristles missing, movement intact, extremely rare. Tin clocks from the first half of the 16th century are museum-quality collector’s items. They are generally extremely rare and command high prices. Examples where the original alarm attachment is still present almost never come onto the market. An almost identical specimen was in the Sandberg Collection, though only the lower section, i.e. without the alarm attachment (https://www.cortrie.de/go/6ZQ). Further very detailed descriptions of this clock can be found in a clock forum from 2013 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/Ro8).
