Pocket watch: Omega rarity, observatory chronometer “CHRONOMÈTRE GRADE VERY BEST” No. 5983708 with certificate and original box, manufactured in 1922 as part of a series of just 300 pieces!
Ca. Ø59mm, ca. 145g, 14K gold, hunting case pocket watch, inscribed ‘CHRONOMETRE OMEGA’, observatory chronometer calibre 43.15S, the highest quality observatory chronometer produced by Omega, CHRONOMÈTRE GRADE VERY BEST with 23 jewels, screw-down gold chatons and fine adjustment, special winding mechanism requiring the crown to be pressed in to wind, original enamel dial, pink gold hands, original box, in very fine condition, in working order. The watch comes with an Omega certificate; it was sold to Finland on 18 May 1924. Originally, the watch was accompanied by a ‘Bulletin de Marche’ from the Bienne Observatory. These Omega chronometers are absolute rarities. Number 5983741 was auctioned in Geneva in 2007 and fetched over 20,000 Swiss francs!
