287-4200 Table clock: an absolute rarity, a so-called "Flintlock Alarm Clock", flintlock alarm clock circa 1730, Hennrich Christian Gunckel, Berlin
Ca. 18 x 10 cm, copper, formerly gilt, verge movement with 2 barrels and alarm, dial mounting, single-hand, iron hands. When the alarm is triggered, the flintlock strikes the fuse on demand, igniting the candle placed inside the case, which shoots out upon ignition.
