Pocket watch: important, big gold/enamel pocket watch with pearls on both sides, Pierre Gregson Paris, ca. 1775
Ca. Ø51 mm, ca. 81 g, 18 K gold, orient pearls on both sides, enamel painting in finest quality on back (unfortunately damaged, needs restoration), pendant with opening button, signed verge movement, movement intact, signed enamel dial in perfect condition, original pink gold hands, except for the damaged enamel painting, the watch is in very good condition. Jean-Pierre Gregson was a French court watchmaker of English descent. Enamel watches with his signature are among the most wanted collectors' objects and reach high collector's prices in international art auctions. Gregson was obviously a very capable master and one of the first watchmakers to use Lépine's bridge caliber. In 1776 he became a court watchmaker, which soon became visible in the designation of his watches. At first they were signed with "Gregson à Paris", later with the addition "Hger du Roy". His significant position is also evident in the fact that he was appointed in 1786 as a member of a commission establishing a royal manufactory. The other members were the most famous watchmakers in France - Breguet, Berthoud and Lepaute. In perfect condition, this watch would be a museum object worth 20,000-30,000 €/CHF. A comparable watch was offered in Geneva auction in 2012 (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/Q2W).

The identical movement and case number suggest that Patek Philippe supplied the movement and dial of this watch to the German Chronometer maker Louis Eschholz/E.F. Wolf in Hanover and the watch was completed there, in the same way as Patek Philippe supplied Tiffany in New York. Louis Eschholz was born in Hanover in 1841 and is the successor of E.F. Wolf in Hanover. He was a member of the board of the Hanoverian watch making guild and submitted in 1903 the chronometer N ° 863 for examination. Louis Eschholz died on September 8, 1905 in Hanover.

Pocket watch: important gold/enamel pocket watch with musical movement and enameled figure automaton "The Concert", probably Piguet at Capt Geneva no. 123, ca. 1810
Ca. Ø61 mm, ca. 167 g, 18 K gold, reeded mid section, muting device, small button for starting musical movement and for the hidden automaton, back lid with enameled figure automaton, lady and man playing musical instrument while music plays, movement winding and combined musical/automaton movement on back, lever for adjustment, movement with cylinder escapement, numbered 123, repeating hours and quarters, additional winding for musical/automaton movement, very beautiful solid gold enamel dial with very fine, central painting "Allegorie Der Musik" (music's allegory), replaced Breguet steel hands; movement, music and automaton working. The watch is a masterpiece of Swiss watchmaking art around 1800 and probably comes from the world-famous Geneva company Piguet et Capt. The watch is visually in excellent condition, only the smallest restorations on the moving parts of the enamel automaton and in a cartouche of the dial. The watch is in working order and plays the music on request and/or automatically on the hour and triggers the figure machine. The lever movement of the automaton has been professionally restored, the striking train needs adjustment so that the hammers hit exactly. Since the hands have been replaced, the shaft of the minute hand is missing and the time is set directly at the hand. That's probably the reason for the very solid steel hands. A technically comparable watch, also attributed to Piguet & Capt, punched with the number 130, represents a very similar automatic scene, in this case, however, the automaton is on the front side. In 2004, this watch was sold for 116,000 Swiss francs in an auction. Another rare automaton watch was sold in Dr. Crott's auction in Frankfurt 2012, signed Henry Daniel Capt, 86th auction lot 115. This watch had a nearly identically constructed automaton but with erotic scene. The watch was sold for more than 100.000 € (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/9Ro*-henry-daniel-capt-a-geneve-58 -mm-134-g-cir-348D29BDB2).

Pocket watch: very rare oval pocket watch repeater, signed Breguet a Paris, ca. 1800
Ca. 50 × 65 mm, ca. 98 g, 18 K pink gold, very rare oval shape, high-grade quality with integrated hinge, dome signed, extravagant and very rare oval movement with pull repeater, repeating hours and quarters, visible striking train, main plate with visible balance, cylinder escapement, main plate signed, original and signed enamel dial (hairline), blued steel hands, movement intact, back lid repaired, real rarity. Oval pocket watches were relatively common in the 17th century. In the 18th century, however, this shape of cases almost disappeared. All the more rare is a piece around 1800, signed Breguet and equipped with rare repeater and high quality movement. According to our knowledge, there is only one comparable watch, the Louis Duchêne & Fils (Geneva), no. 9471, which was sold in Geneva auction for about 30,000 CHF.
