292-4171 Pocket watch: Glashütte rarity, Brinckmann & Lange 1A quality gold hunting case pocket watch, extremely rare, circa 1900
Ca. Ø52mm, ca. 116g, heavy 14K pink gold Savonnette case, case and movement share the same serial number 2434, A. Lange & Söhne precision lever movement in top-quality 1A grade with diamond endstone, gold lever, gold escape wheel and, as an absolute rarity, ‘GOLDEN FINE REGULATION’ – a feature not found elsewhere in the Lange & Söhne range – signed enamel dial, pink gold hands, in very good condition and in working order! This watch is an absolute rarity! Behind this name lies not a watch manufacturer in its own right, but the long-established jewellers Brinckmann & Lange, founded in Bremen in 1874 by Adolph Brinckmann and Gerhard Lange. As co-founder Gerhard Lange maintained close ties with Glashütte, the Bremen-based jewellers were one of the most important and exclusive distribution partners of the world-famous A. Lange & Söhne manufactory in Glashütte. These watches were manufactured by A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte (often to the highest quality grade, ‘1A’), had their own numbering system and were supplied to Brinckmann & Lange. They are among the rarest Glashütte pocket watches.
