292-4192 Pocket watch: gold and enamel cylinder watch with ‘starry sky’ chatelaine, original Lepine Hger du Roy, circa 1785
Ca. Ø43mm, ca. 64g, 18K gold, blue engine-turned enamel on the reverse with inlaid gold stars, dome bearing the signature of the court watchmaker and No. 4784, Lepine’s patented clasp for the setting square (worn), Lépine calibre with cylinder escapement, enamel dial, gold hands, movement intact; accompanying chatelaine, also gold and enamel with the same scene, movement intact; the setting square requires restoration. The quality of an original Lépine is very clearly evident in this watch. He was one of the finest French watchmakers alongside Breguet.
