292-4322 Pocket watch: A rarity, a very early John Arnold chronometer with a gold balance spring, ca. 1785
Ca. Ø54mm, ca. 140g, silver case in typical Arnold design, no hallmarks visible, interior clearly polished, fantastic, very early Arnold movement No. 146/447 with original balance wheel, original gold balance spring, Arnold chronometer escapement, diamond endstone, mainplate signed John Arnold & Son, London, enamel dial with early seconds hand, steel hands, very good condition, in working order, a very rare, early Arnold watch. The watch is listed in the ‘Staeger’ catalogue as being in its original condition and dated 1785. According to the description, the case originally bore a T.H. hallmark/engraving, which explains its current polished condition.
