292-4164 Pocket watch: one of the first Patek Philippe ‘Gondolo’ Anker chronometers from 1903

Ca. Ø56mm, ca. 133g, 18K gold, case number 229248, movement 119710, engine-turned, a particularly heavy and large Patek Philippe Anker chronometer with a large gold-screw balance wheel and moustache lever, a rare movement variant featuring a long regulator hand and a large, single-piece barrel bridge spanning both winding wheels; an original enamel dial in impeccable condition and original gold hands; in very good working order; a very fine Patek Philippe collector’s watch. Patek Philippe began production of this legendary Anker chronometer in 1902. The movement variant presented here is the earliest version of a Gondolo. We are not aware of any other example with a movement number below 120,000.

292-4127 Pocket watch: extremely rare Art Deco dress watch with date, precision movement, E. Koehn Geneva, circa 1925 Ca. 45 mm in diameter, ca. 60 g, 18-carat white gold, signed Geneva calibre with 19 jewels, regulated in 8 positions, comparable in quality to Patek Philippe dress watches of the period, No. 88481, date window below the ‘12’, gold hands, in working order. Eduard Koehn was born in Germany in 1839, the son of Karl Koehn, purveyor to the court of the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. He studied at the watchmaking school in Geneva from 1859. He then began working as a junior watchmaker at Patek Philippe in 1861 and was appointed director after 15 years. In 1891, Edouard Koehn acquired the firm H.R. Ekegren. The commitment to quality that he had acquired during his many years at Patek Philippe was later reflected in the products he designed and manufactured himself. 1.000 € - 3.000 €

292-4165 Pocket watch: unique, early gold hunting case pocket watch with repeater, a rarity from the early days of Patek Philippe, Patek & Cie. No. 10296, Geneva ca. 1855, with presumably original box and original key Ca. Ø47mm, ca. 56g, 18K gold, magnificently engraved, very early savonnette case, spring lid featuring a finely chased depiction of a general in uniform, presumably the Polish national hero General Tadeusz Kościuszko; on the reverse, a highly detailed depiction of the general on horseback against a military scene in the background; dome signed and numbered, magnificently engraved with rocaille motifs, No. 10296, Case and movement bear the same number; exquisite early Patek Philippe lever movement with temperature compensation and shock protection; hour and quarter-hour repeater; a very beautiful enamelled dial and the finest Breguet gold hands; in working order and in a very fine state of preservation. The watch is housed in a box from the Türler firm in Zurich, which was presumably the seller. The box contains what is presumably the original cross-shaped gold key. The watch is a museum-quality collector’s piece and is one of the earliest known Patek Philippe hunting case pocket watches with a repeater, presumably made for a wealthy Polish client. At Antiquorum auctions in Geneva in 2004, another Patek Philippe hunting case pocket watch with a very similar case and extract from the archives was sold at auction. According to the register extract, the case depicted the scene ‘The Death of Poniatowski’ on one side and Tadeusz Kościuszko on horseback on the other. 292-4280 Pocket watch: very fine Geneva-made precision pocket watch with minute repeater, Piguet, circa 1900 Ca. 51.5 mm in diameter, ca. 112 g, 18K gold, enamelled monogram on the back, à-goutte case No. 8669, factory seal, Geneva precision lever movement with minute repeater, movement number matching the case (8669), signed Piguet, Guillaume & Cie., signed enamel dial, gold hands, in working order. The movement of this watch is of a quality comparable to that of Patek Philippe, a standard of quality rarely matched elsewhere. 6.500 € - 12.500 €

292-4283 Pocket watch: significant Geneva chronometer with 7 complications, B. Haas, Geneva, circa 1890 Ca. Ø54mm, ca. 150g, 18K gold, à-goutte savonnette, engine-turned, dome inscribed "CHRONOMETRE", signed B. Haas Jne & Cie No. 15333, top-quality Geneva Anker chronometer, perpetual calendar, moon phase, age of the moon and minute repeater, very well-preserved enamel dial, gold hands, in very good condition and in working order. Very few pocket watches of chronometer quality feature complications. This is because it was difficult to achieve the accuracy required of a chronometer in watches that had additional complications. Only a few manufacturers, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin and, indeed, B. Haas, were capable of doing so. These watches are now particularly sought-after and highly prized collector’s items! The ‘sister watch’, No. 15773, was offered for sale in Geneva in 2010 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/PoA). Another of these watches, No. 15849, even exceeded the upper estimate of CHF 55,000 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/7Z6). 20.000 € - 50.000 €

292-4291 Form watch: an absolute rarity, presumably the only known Patek Philippe ‘Flakon’ with an extract from the archives, 1854 Ca. 48 x 27 mm, 18K gold, blue enamel and diamonds set in silver, upper section with hinged flacon clasp, secret opening button for the lid concealed in one of the chain eyelets, numbered No. 1, opens on both sides, heart-shaped cylinder movement with key winding, signed beneath the dial, No. 9608, screw-fixed enamel dial, gold hands, original gold/enamel chatelaine with key and signet ring bearing the monogram CJ, with the movement intact, and some restoration to the enamel. The watch is a museum-quality rarity and is likely to be one of a kind. The number 1 also suggests this. We are not aware of any other flacon by Patek Philippe. The case maker is also thought to be from Geneva. The extract from the archives confirms the heart-shaped movement, manufactured in 1854. In many enamel flacon watches, the movement manufacturer and the case maker were different companies. In most cases, the movements were French or from Vienna; extremely rarely, they were from Geneva, like the prominent case makers. According to our research, there are around 10 known Patek Philippe shaped watches with heart-shaped movements, all dating from the 1850s; however, none of them was a flacon. 19.000 € - 35.000 €

Patek Philippe produced the legendary ‘Gondolo’ chronometer calibre for the South American market. 5.000 € - 8.000 €

292-4329 Pocket watch: very fine, heavy Patek Philippe Observatory chronometer, 1st class ‘EXTRA’ quality, with an outstanding test result from the Geneva Observatory in 1901, PP No. 115412 Ca. Ø52.5mm, ca. 120g, 18K gold, à-goutte, case number 227486, movement number 115412, double signature: Patek Philippe Geneva and Ignaz Marenzeller, Imperial and Royal Court Purveyor to Vienna, exquisite chronometer movement with lever escapement and Guillaume balance wheel, exceptionally rare regulation mechanism with two regulator hands and swan’s neck, wolf's toothing, movement double-numbered 115412 as prescribed for observatory chronometers, original, signed enamel dial, blued steel hands, in very fine condition, in working order. This very fine pocket chronometer is supplied with a chronometer certificate and an extract from the chronometer database. According to these records, in 1901 this watch scored 216 points, placing 15th out of 101 tested 1st-class observatory pocket chronometers. A comparable chronometer was auctioned in Geneva in 2010 and fetched over 20,000 Swiss francs (source: https://www.cortrie.de/go/VDr). 5.000 € - 15.000 €

292-4358 Pocket watch/dress watch: extremely rare Patek Philippe ‘Gilbert Albert’ with original Gay Frères watch chain, ca. 1960 Approx. 35 x 35 mm, total weight ca. 52 g, 18K gold, case with corded edge matching the original chain, Ref. 784/2493, hand-wound, Calibre 10-200, silvered sector dial, gold hands, excellent original condition, in working order. Patek Philippe’s Reference 785 was produced only from 1960 to 1964 in 18K yellow or rose gold. The case was crafted by F. Baumgartner, whilst the design was created in 1959 by the brilliant designer Gilbert Albert, whose unique works are equally sought after by collectors and museums alike. Patek Philippe brought the young Geneva-based jewellery designer Gilbert Albert on board in 1955; the aim of this collaboration was to create a range of unusual and eye-catching watches. Albert was an exceptionally talented artist with a passionate affinity for modern art, such as the works of Brancusi and Mondrian; the unusual and daring cases he created for Patek Philippe continue to fascinate the viewer today just as much as they did on the day of their creation. 7.000 € - 15.000 €

292-4360 Wristwatch: very early Audemars Piguet rattrapante chronograph, ca. 1926–1929 Ca. Ø46mm, 18K gold, coat of arms engraved on the back, case and movement bear the same number 37518, early lugs, lower lug showing signs of repair, hinged case back, case, movement and dial signed, very fine calibre with 22 jewels and fine adjustment, dial with Breguet numerals, 30-minute counter, gold hands, leather strap, in working order and very well preserved. The earliest wristwatch split-seconds chronograph was produced by Patek Philippe as a one-off in 1923, with series production commencing in 1927. Based on its reference number, this Audemars Piguet chronograph was manufactured between 1926 and 1929, making it one of the earliest wristwatch split-seconds chronographs. In some cases, pocket watches were modified to create early chronographs. This is likely a one-off piece made to a customer’s specification with a modified case. Audemars Piguet did not produce any wristwatches with split-seconds chronographs in series production at that time. 10.000 € - 30.000 €

Ø33mm, 18K gold, pressed back, serial number 652738, movement number 867222, caseback with reference number, very rare movement with fine adjustment, regulated in 8 positions, beautifully preserved dial, original hands, leather strap with buckle, in very good condition and in working order, with what is believed to be the original box.
