292-4271 Pocket watch: gold Jacquemart figure automaton with rare movement/case, Lepine?, ca. 1820
Ca. 55 mm in diameter, ca. 102 g, Case of exceptional quality, Breguet-style, recessed, screw-fixed centre section, 18K pink gold, very rare, distinctive calibre with cylinder escapement, quarter-hour repeater and figure automaton, enamelled dial, Breguet steel hands, movement intact, striking mechanism requires adjustment. The quality of the case and movement differs significantly from the ‘typical’ Jacquemarts of this period and suggests the work of one of the great watchmakers of the time, possibly Le Roy or Lepine.
