292-4381  Singing bird box, attributed to Charles Bruguier, silver, ca. 1840

Ca. 98 x 60 x 36 mm, ca. 405 g, magnificent, signed silver case, marked ‘CB’, brass automaton, slide switch on the front to activate the automaton, movement intact. Charles Bruguier (1788–1862) was a famous Swiss watchmaker and master of precision engineering. Alongside the Frères Rochat, he is regarded as one of the most significant creators of antique sininging bird boxes in the 19th century. (https://www.cortrie.de/go/dJn).
