292-4282 Pocket watch: unique Cabriolet ceremonial savonnette with 8-day duplex movement, Racine, c. 1840
Approx. 60 mm in diameter, approx. 155 g, 18-carat gold à-goutte, magnificently engraved, so-called reversible ‘CABRIOLET’ case, wearable as a Lepine or a hunting case pocket watch, No. 27585, movement, case and dial signed, extremely rare 8-day movement with 2 barrels and duplex escapement, matching enamelled dial, steel hands, very well preserved and in working order, an absolute rarity. In our 112th auction, we sold a significant enamelled watch with Grande sonnerie, also signed Racine, ca. 1820, which sold for €212,000.
